Who say's that you can't? Inhibition vs Prohibition...????

There are a number of obstacles that can hinder your growth and leadership development. Most fall into one of two categories - either Inhibitions or Prohibitions. Inhibitions refer to restrictions and obstacles you place on yourself while Prohibitions refer to restrictions and obstacles placed on you by forces outside your control. Too often, we mistake Inhibitions for Prohibitions. In other words, you have power over more things than you think. Distinguishing between the two is important though because you must respond in different ways to overcome them. Inhibitions are false obstacles - overcoming them requires you to shift your mindset, face your fears, and lead yourself more effectively. On the other hand, legitimate Prohibitions will take the form of either barriers, hurdles, or gaps, but they all require you to find someone or something with the tools, influence, position, or specific skills to help you break down and overcome it. So when you come across a challenge, ask: “Who says you can’t?” and if it’s a Prohibition, identify whether it’s a barrier, hurdle, or gap. The answer will inform your next step.
